🎯 The Goal
Seize absolute control of the desert planet Arrakis by out-maneuvering your rivals to occupy a specific number of legendary strongholds, commanding the flow of precious spice while utilizing treachery and asymmetric faction powers to completely dominate the imperium.
⚙️ Core Actions
The game plays out over multiple sweeping rounds, pitting up to six players against a brutal planet and each other across tightly structured phases:
- Survive the Storm: The deadly Coriolis Storm sweeps across the map dynamically each round. Any military forces caught out in the open desert sectors when the storm hits are instantly wiped out.
- Harvest the Spice: Spice blows erupt randomly across the sand. Players drop troops onto the planet to mine these blow locations, gathering the precious currency required to fund shipments, pay for combat revivals, or bid on secret cards.
- Bid on Treachery Cards: Participate in blind auctions to purchase secret Treachery cards. These cards provide hidden weapons, defensive armor, tactical cards, or game-changing events that can swing a battle or assassinate a rival leader.
- Ship and Move Troops: Pay spice to ship specialized troop reserves directly from orbit down to any sector on Arrakis, then march your existing ground forces into adjacent territories to lock down spice blows or invade heavily fortified strongholds.
- Execute the Battle Wheel: When opposing troops occupy the same territory, combat triggers simultaneously via a secret dial system. Players must secretly commit a specific number of troops, choose a faction Leader, and select one offensive weapon and one defensive defense from their Treachery card hand. The highest total strength wins, but if your opponent plays a weapon that bypasses your defense card, your leader is instantly killed.
- Form Strategic Alliances: When a massive Nexus event triggers, players can formally form or break binding alliances. Allies share their unique asymmetric faction abilities and can work together to secure a shared, combined stronghold victory condition.
🧠 Why you’ll like it
It is a legendary masterclass in high-stakes political intrigue, brutal asymmetric design, and psychological warfare. Because every single faction plays by entirely different rules—such as the Bene Gesserit predicting the exact winner and turn of the game to win by default, or the Atreides looking at upcoming auction cards—the table talk and negotiations are unparalleled. The blind-dial combat system means there is zero luck; battles are decided purely by reading your opponent’s mind, making every single clash an incredibly intense, unforgettable tactical showdown.
