🎯 The Goal
Navigate a winter wasteland at the North Pole to infiltrate a corrupted workshop, rescuing trapped elves and gathering festive gear to survive the holiday onslaught of Jack Frost’s minions before reaching Santa Claus.
⚙️ Core Actions
This installment combines the core card-row mechanisms with full RPG-style attribute tracking and custom, high-variance polyhedral dice:
- Utilize Asymmetric Elves: Choose a specialized companion elf at the start of the game, unlocking unique active abilities and an asymmetric deck of personal talents.
- Roll Polyhedral Skill Checks: Face event tests that require you to test four distinct thematic RPG statistics: Strength (STR), Dexterity (DEX), Intelligence (INT), or Charisma (CHA). You roll high-impact, custom polyhedral dice (like $d4$s or $d20$s) to match or exceed strict difficulty targets.
- Advance Across the Map: Instead of blindly digging through a deck to find the exit, you manage physical movement across a dedicated, face-up Map card. Activating specific cards moves your player pawn forward step-by-step along a linear tracking route.
- Bribe with Carrots: Collect specialized carrot tokens as you explore. You can spend these tokens instantly to activate passing Reindeer cards in your row, giving your pawn massive movement boosts across the frozen tundra.
- Resolve Shared Rows (Co-op/2-Player): When played with two players, you manage a communal row alongside your individual player rows. Attacking or hiding clears out your personal space but will completely discard the shared row, requiring tight tactical coordination to prevent leaving your partner stranded.
🧠 Why you’ll like it
It takes the fast-paced survival framework of the series and injects it with a whimsical, dark-holiday spin that feels like an epic tactical RPG. The addition of a physical map tracking system and multiple dice types gives you a clear sense of progression and much greater control over how you tackle obstacles. It is a vibrant, highly replayable, and surprisingly deep solo or cooperative challenge that hits a perfect sweet spot of theme and mechanical strategy.
